Indigenous planning is a strategy used to plan and design places through the lenses of indigenous people and communities. With strong emphasis on community health and well-ness, sustainability, and place-based approaches, indigenous planning strives for holistic designs. Such projects involve indigenous people making decisions and being present during the process allowing for their knowledge, values and principles to drive the design, leading to projects that represent the communities’ future aspirations.
